You and a hundred other ask blogs have been invited to compete in a contest that is part Survivor, part game show. You will complete art challenges each day ingame (9 days out of game) the best and win the grand prize. There is a grand prize of over 20$+ value and a second prize for runners up (see Prizes). Each day in-game (9 days out of game) you draw a scene or series of scenes accompanied by a description. The very best submissions of the day will be awarded, while the least entertaining will lose. This is the summary of the competition. If you don’t like what you’ve read so far, no pressure! If you do, feel free to read on as we get detailed.

Submissions

You are given 9 days to whip up a few panels and a description for them. Knowing this,I’m not expecting massive amounts of quality, but I am expecting a hefty amount of effort. If you are using a mouse, I would recommend tying to locate a scanner; I would rather receive work messed up by a scanner than mousework (with a few exceptions, ask-octavia included). Shading is not required, though I do like to see a reliable sense of proportions and a dash of style. I’m relying on your humor, your mystique, and your innovation to move this party along. To make sure that we are receiving unique works, we give each player a challenge to complete before the following week is over. The challenge will be announced on every other Saturday at 12:00 AM PST, and you will be prompted to include other challengers in your drawings. The challenges will include locations, objects, and situations, so be prepared. Keep it PG-13, which means no blood fountains and novisible sex. In other words, use common sense. If you do post work that is above the content limit, moderators will post a censored version with the ability to click to a NSFW version. We would prefer if you posted to another page, but that is our procedure for handling this incident. We will not reblog We will reblog. If you have any questions, contact us using the ask portion of this blog. If you have a specific question and it has not been answered, remind us. Not every ask is answered; we recieve about 15 letters a day on average and this number is expected to increase.

Late Policy ; The Extra Day System

It is almost inevitable someone will be unable to make it in time and must forfeit. We take into account midterms/finals and other events, and we are willing to extend your deadlines for emergencies. You have three extra days to start. Extra days can be used to extend your deadline, up to a maximum of five extra days on any given challenge. If you run out of extra days or exceed the maximum deadline limit (5 days) you declare forfeiture. If you wish, another artist can donate some of their extra days to you, should you run low. Mods will announce if players only have one extra day left. This allows you to receive extra days with certainty if another player(s) wish to keep you around.To give extra days, contact the moderators and specify who you are giving the extra days to. Extra Days can be received from Fan Popularity Contests, Submissions Of The Day, and SPECIAL AWARDS (such as inviting another player to join the competition). This is a very important key to staying alive! A good player can have all the time in the world and beat a great artist who had none at all!

Join By Proxy

You can’t draw any more. Your arm broke, school got to much for you, whatever. If you know an artist who has the ability to draw your character, they can proxy in with moderator permission. We are only accepting 5 proxies at one time. This means that the most urgent situations take precedence. In the unlikelihood they win, you will not receive the prize; keep this in mind. This guideline is only useful for you if you think it would be a shame to waste your character or you want additional publicity. You can also replace back in by proxy. This requires that both parties agree you are entering back in. However, this will divide any donation prizes among the both of you depending on how many ‘days’ the artist subbed in. If they subbed for 1 ‘day’, 1/7th of the prize. 5 ‘days’ means 5/7th of the prize. Read the Multi-mod Blog rules for more.

VIP Passes

A limited number of you received VIP passes, for whatever reason. In addition to giving you (2) extra days to start, these passes can be traded and allow you to spring (3) challenges on other players before the card is useless. This means that you have a healthy head start! In addition, you may save one player from death by any means other than forfeit. This means that you finish their panels for them. We do have 9 passes that are unassigned at this moment, so additional players may end up receiving them on the last join date.

Prizes

There are three kinds of prizes; In-Game Prizes, Donation Prizes, and the Grand Prize. In-Game Prizes are useful for staying ahead in the game, and can ultimately secure you a spot in the top five players. These prizes may allow you to spring challenges on would-be competition, gain extra days, or even give you and a friend invincibility for the next round. Each prize is a grab box and is randomly chosen. Onto the Donation Prizes; On Day 4 (or earlier) a donation box will open. The box will start with (5) USD donated by myself, and the amount will increase with each successive donation. At the end of the game, the prize is split evenly among the survivors or the top 5 artists, whichever is smaller. Finally, we have the Grand Prize. Its contents will be revealed to the moderators to show I’m not shitting you, and the BEST competitor will receive it in a package via mail (Along with a portion of the Donation Prize written on a comically undersized fake check).

Now that you know the risks, there is little reason not to join! There will be no costs for you, and who knows? You might just win that prize! So, if you’re feeling skilled, join the game! Special Situations

Multi-Character Ask Blogs

I understand many of you run more than one character, but have only received one ticket for your blog. Do not fret. If you own more than one character, you may invite several all on a single ticket. This means that if you run ’ Ask Spitfire and Soarin’ ‘, you can pretend that each character received a letter. You will be expected to keep your main character(s) consistent. Doctor Whooves wouldn’t change companions in the middle of an episode, so why should you?

Multi-Mod Ask Blogs

This gets a bit tricky. More than one artist runs the blog, so the prize will be split different ways. This is more of an individual matter for the most part, but as a rule of thumb you split the prize even, with the main moderator receiving the Grand Prize if applicable. Contact myself if you want to learn more.

Collab Submissions

Some players may pool resources to submit a greater work. You are expected to take the requirements and multiply any nonzero numbers by the number of artists working on the collab. Submit it and attribute all artists. Prizes are negotiable at this point; see Multi-Mod Ask Blogs for more.

Bonus Challenges

Take the time to read all comics by other players once a week or so.You may find challenges contained on any and all reblogs- these can give you things like Cameo Tickets and Extra Days, so be sure to check them out!

1) It is broad so that you do not feel constrained by limitations. In addition, your character description should cover a few sentences. Don’t be brief! Illustrate the details!

I can tell from your questions that a good many of you are concerned there needs to be given colors and layout for the sea, cruise ship, etc. You will never be assigned the layout of a background, ever. It is up to the artist to decide whether or not they want to be riding in a 5 star hotel on the sea or a no star ferry to nowhere. It is entirely at your discretion. More news for VIP passes!
